Reductive or oxidative catalytic lignin depolymerization: An overview of recent advances

چکیده

Lignin, one of the main biopolymers in lignocellulosic biomass, is a promising feedstock for producing aromatic chemicals and BTX-fuels. Despite high availability, lignin remains under-valorized to chemical formation motivating research towards upgrading through depolymerization. Catalytic approaches are particularly studied since they can influence selectivity Next thermal or acid/base depolymerization, catalytic routes under either oxidative reductive atmosphere represent very attractive way produce aromatics fine chemistry energy. This literature overview shows that depolymerization outcome depends strongly on reaction conditions. While highly functionalized high-added value like vanillin obtained, alkylphenolics BTX mainly observed when conducting atmosphere. Additionally, results depend nature catalyst former approach, whereas conditions play an essential role operating hydrogen. Understanding comparing these quite complex methodologies over last ten years constitutes focus this review.

Catalytic Oxidation and Depolymerization of Lignin in Aqueous Ionic Liquid

Lignin is an integral part of the plant cell wall, which provides rigidity to plants, also contributes to the recalcitrance of the lignocellulosic biomass to biochemical and biological deconstruction. Lignin is a promising renewable feedstock for aromatic chemicals; however, an efficient and economic lignin depolymerization method needs to be developed to enable the conversion. In this study, w...

An Overview of Recent Advances of the Catalytic Selective Oxidation of Ethane to Oxygenates

The selective partial oxidation of short chain alkanes is a key challenge within catalysis research. Direct ethane oxidation to oxygenates is a difficult aim, but potentially rewarding, and it could lead to a paradigm shift in the supply chain of several bulk chemicals. Unfortunately, low C–H bond reactivity and kinetically labile products are just some reasons affecting the development and com...

Redox Catalysis Facilitates Lignin Depolymerization

Lignin is a recalcitrant and underexploited natural feedstock for aromatic commodity chemicals, and its degradation generally requires the use of high temperatures and harsh reaction conditions. Herein we present an ambient temperature one-pot process for the controlled oxidation and depolymerization of this potent resource. Harnessing the potential of electrocatalytic oxidation in conjugation ...
